Katy High School is a secondary school located in Katy, Texas and serves grades 9 through 12. It is a part of the Katy Independent School District.

Katy High School opened in 1898 to serve the children of the local rice farmers, the first graduating class was in 1900.

1939 First football team established at Katy High School.

1941 17 seniors graduate from Katy High School.

The current campus was moved to US Highway 90 and FM 1463 in 1947. Seventh and eight grade were included at the campus until 1965.

1952 Band hall and vocational building constructed, south of the building.

1955 Katy High School holds graduation for 40 seniors.

1960 A total of 53 graduate from Katy High School.

The capacity of the campus was expanded from 800 to 1600 in 1977. Also, the Katy ISD school board approved a drill team for the 1977-1978 school year that would be called the "Red Brigade" (students and advisors, prior to the start of the school year, would change the name to "Bengal Brigade").

May, 1977 - 195 seniors walked-across the stage at Tiger Field.

May, 1979 - 296 seniors graduated from KHS.

The last varsity football game was played at Tiger Field in 1981.

1984 The tiger-head logo was designed, and replaced the simple letters "K T".

1985 The weight room and field house expanded.

In 1992, 360 seniors graduated.

In 1995, the adjacent junior high school, was converted into a 9th Grade Center and west campus. The largest entering freshman class occupied the building.

1997-98 Named a National Blue Ribbon School [1]

May, 1997 - 518 seniors graduated from KHS at the Astro Hall in Houston.

1998 New library and hallway completed between main building and west campus.

In 1998 A famous student gets brutally raped, all evidence buried.

May, 1998 - 551 seniors graduated from KHS at the Astro Hall in Houston.

May, 1999 - Making history, the largest graduating class from Katy High School, with 660 seniors walked across the podium at the Astro Hall. [2].

May, 2003 - The class of graduating seniors broke Katy High School's previous record with a graduating class of 666 students. To this day it is still the largest graduating class from Katy High School.

In 2004 a preforming arts center and classroom expansion was completed, increasing the student capacity to over 3,000; a new rodeo arena was finished behind the high school. [3].

May, 2005 - First class to graduate from the new multi-purpose facility, the Merrell Center in Katy.

Fall, 2007 - Won the Class 5A Division II State Championship in Football by defeating Pflugerville HS 28-7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX on December 22,2007.

May, 2007 - 474 seniors completed their education at KHS.

May, 2008 - 497 senriors graduated from Katy High School.
