Kato Pedina (Greek: Κάτω Πεδινά meaning the lower fields), accented form: Káto Ped(h)iná, is a settlement in the Ioannina Prefecture in Epirus, Greece next to the Greek-Albanian border. It is in the municipality of Central Zagori. Its 2001 population was 87 for the village.

[edit] About Patero
Kato Pedina is situated in a mountainous area and is built 940 m above sea level. Farmlands are within the village area. Its main economy is only based in agriculture. The village are between the Mitsikeli and Stouros mountains, in the other side, the first which has the name Bafara(c)hi (Μπαφαράχη), the second is in a mountain crest.

The village was once called Soudena which was of Slavic origin which meant cold ground.
In the location of Gkortzia and Lakkia Spanou in had founded an ancient tomb that dates back to the end of the 2nd millennium BC. As a settlement, Kato Pedina was famous during the Byzantine era (the older written source of the name was founded in the edict of Andronicus II Palaeologus, in 1321 along with the villages of Papingo, Elafotopos and Ano Pedina), it is one of the oldest villages in Zagori.
The settlement enjoyed a great growth after the 16th century after the settling with the people of neighbouring villages, the remained relocated themselves to several hills from its people during the autonomous era.
It has a countenant architecture of the village that survives several stone built houses dating from the 18th century, these buildings built with the wood-stone work and several agricultural sources as well as olives, in its fields which stretched in front of the village and has six stone springs.

Kato Pedina has a school, a church, a square (plateia). Its nearest school, gymnasium (middle school), lyceum (secondary school) are in Asprangeli and further.
