Kathleen Parker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kathleen Parker

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kathleen Parker is an American syndicated columnist and conservative political commentator. Her columns frequently focus on family, sex roles, and race. Her column is syndicated nationally by The Washington Post Writers Group. Parker is also a consulting faculty member at the Buckley School of Public Speaking, and makes appearances on television shows like The O'Reilly Factor and The Chris Matthews Show.

Parker grew up in Florida, is the mother of three sons, and currently resides in Camden, South Carolina with her husband and one son.[1] Her mother died when she was young, and she has had four stepmothers, and has been a stepmother herself.[1].

In a 14 May 2008 column entitled "Getting Bubba", she explained some voters' reluctance to vote for Barack Obama. She described these voters as "full-blooded Americans...who trace their bloodlines back through generations of sacrifice." She argued that it is not racist for these people to "feel antipathy toward 'people who aren't like them'". She said, "It's about blood equity, heritage and commitment to hard-won American values. And roots."[2] Salon.com blogger Glenn Greenwald called the column "one of the most repellent columns one will ever read".[3]
