The ancestors of present day Memons who settled few centuries ago, in various part of the district of Kathiawar are now identified as simply Memons or Kathiawadi Memons Many Memons especially Kathiawadi Memons further divided into sub-group which is generally refer to their ancestral village or town such as Bantva Memons, Dhoraji Memons Deeplai Memon etc. It is estimated that the number of Memons worldwide over one million [1] Kathiawadi Memons
