Kasper Straube
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Kasper Straube (also known as The Printer of the Turrecrematas), was a German printer of the 15th century. Having been active in Cracow between 1473 and 1477 before decades before Johann Haller, his Latin almanac Calendarium cracoviense (Cracovian Calendar) of 1473[1] is regarded as the first work printed in Poland.[2]
A Dutch printing shop known by the name 'Typographus Sermonum Papae Leonis I.' might have been established even earlier that year on Polish territory, but its exact location has yet to be determined.[2]
Other surviving print works by the Bavarian Straube include
- Joannes de Turrecrematas: Explanatio in Psalterium
- Franciscus de Platea: Opus restitutionum usurarum et excommunicationum
- Augustinus: Opuscula (de doctrina christiana, de praedestinatione sanctorum)
