Kasey Studdard (born July 1, 1984 in Denver, Colorado)[1] is an American football player for the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He was drafted by the Texans in the sixth round (number 183 overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.[2] He considers Katy, Texas (near Houston) as his home town.[1]

[edit] High School Years
Studdard attended Highlands Ranch High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and was a student, and won four varsity letters in football, basketball, and track&field. In football, he was a four-year starter as an offensive lineman and as a defensive lineman. He was a two-time All-Fistrict selection, twice named as an All-County selection, and was a two-time first team All-State selection.
As a sophomore, he was an All-League selection, and posted 75 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks. Kasey Studdard graduated from Highlands Ranch High School in 2002. Following his high school career, Studdard played in the 2002 U.S. Army All-American Bowl alongside fellow Texas Longhorns Justin Blalock and Rodrique Wright.
Kasey is the son of former Denver Bronco tackle Dave Studdard (1979-1988). His father also attended the University of Texas before being a 9th round pick of the Baltimore Colts in 1978. Dave grew up in San Antonio, Texas.

Studdard played college football at the University of Texas under head coach Mack Brown. Studdard redshirted his first year at Texas, and saw limited action in his redshirt freshman year. As a redshirt sophomore, Studdard was the starter for a Longhorn team that was second in the nation in rushing and went on to win its first Bowl Championship Series game against the University of Michigan at the Rose Bowl. The following year, Studdard helped anchor the offensive line for the Longhorn team that led the nation in scoring offense.[1] The Horns once again boasted the second best rushing attack in the nation and went on to win the national championship against a University of Southern California at the Rose Bowl. Studdard garnered second team All Big 12 honors for his performance. In his final year at Texas, Studdard was voted as a team captain by his team mates and started all 13 games in the season. The team went 10-3 with a win against Iowa in the Alamo Bowl - the third straight bowl win for the Longhorns. Studdard was named to the first team All Big 12 by the league coaches and media after the season.[1]

Studdard was drafted by the Houston Texans in the sixth round of the 2007 NFL Draft(183th overal), being one of seven Longhorns selected in the Draft.[2] He signed a four year contract with the team on July 20, 2007.[3]
