I'm Karen Slemmer, I'm an American, CFA registered, Manx cat breeder and have been involved with the breed since 1996. I'm a member of the Manx Breed Council [1], American Manx Club [2], Manx Rescue [3]and the Egyptian Mau Breed Council. I'm experienced with breeding, showing and raising registered Manx cats. I've had great success in avoiding health issues related to the breed's (tailless) genetic mutation and am pleased to bring about a more positive knowledge of the Manx breed in doing so. My continuing goal is to promote education and awareness of the Manx and myths that surround the breed. In doing so, I provide an informative, up-to-date web site of the Manx I breed. I have hands-on knowledge from working with the breed which I feel gives me more of an edge than most owning a tailless cat. However, admit I'm far from knowing everything there is to know about this wonderful breed of cat.

I made my first edit on Wikipedia to the Manx(cat) page in January 2005. A lot of edits have been made (and changed) since I've began, but feel it's overall much better due to my involvement, yet there is always room for improvement.

I hope those of you who have something to contribute to the page will do so and not let anyone or thing discourage you. I consider myself somewhat of an expert on the breed having dealt with it "hands on" but am always willing to take the time to learn and have a chat with those who share the same love of the Manx cat as I do.
