- We know about Kanto/Johto from GSC. But has Hoenn's location ever been confirmed? My guess is the same as the one in the article, but a guess is not canon. Sonic Mew 16:18, Jun 11, 2005 (UTC)
- My edit is based on a photograph of a poster from Pokémon Centre Tokyo which shows the three regions together. I have been trying for about an hour to re-locate the web site I downloaded the image from, but in vain. In frustration, I have uploaded the image from my hard drive:

You know what's odd? The shape of the Kanto region in Pokemon and the shape of the real Kanto region are really, really, really similar...Hmmm. -Alex 12.220.157.93 12:28, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- You are correct. The geography of the Pokémon world is based quite closely on that of Japan... for instance, Saffron/Tamamushi City is similar to Tokyo. Tony Myers 06:25, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
I edited the Kancho for Kanto. In the games, it is referred as Kanto as well as the japanese version

though extremely hard to pull off, if you go trough the game without obtaining cut, you can explore the port around the SS anne before it takes off. This can only be done by trading for a Pokemon that knows cut, or teaching a Pokemon cut in Pokemon stadium 1 and/or 2 with another game.
The port contains the only automobile seen in the whole games until Sapphire, Rub, and Emerald. its a pickup truck. I know about the area because i was told you could get a mew from that area, but the rumor was false, but the area is for real.Yami (talk) 03:53, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

I think someone should do a template for the Pokémon regions, with all of the towns in each, because there's getting to be quite a few too many places to keep track of. Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Orre, and now Shinto... way many.

Is "Image:Kanto FrLg.PNG" necessary? It's a huge image that loads very slowly and is not necessary as there are several illustrations of Kanto already. Slyth1 00:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Location of Orre (and notability)
I know it's a teensy little thing, but I'll ask anyway. It states in the "Location" paragraph near the beginning that Orre is supossedly north of the Kanto-Johto landmass, as part of it or otherwise. Well, as far as I know, Orre hasn't really been confirmed to be anywhere yet, so I question the notability. Is it that notable for a guess to be on the article? I haven't seen an official merchandise item or heard anywhere in the games that explicitly states that as a fact. It's on other articles too, so my question is: Should it be changed to something along the lines of "Location in reference to Orre is unknown."? It's that on some articles, while others have this. And, uh, I type too much for such a small, trivial thing, no? I guess I'm making more out of a small thing than I should be... Johtoblaziken 21:06, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

According to official Nintendo Power guide of Fire Red and Leaf Green on page 55:
"Celedon City is the biggest burg in Kanto, and home to the world's largest department store. Head there for all your Pokemon needs, then spend some time in the gaming hall, take down a Gym Leader and infiltrate the Team Rocket hideout."

In pokemon D/P would veilstone city or hearthome city be the biggest? Because veilstone has a department store, but in the game it says hearthome is voted the best place to live in every year.

It's got the "does not cite sources and references tag"... Going out on a limb here, I'm guessing the sources are the various Pokémon games. This might very well fall under the "original research" category but seriously, it's fiction, come on!

[edit] Kanto and the Real World
In Pokemon Yellow, there are numerous signs that Kanto is, in fact, located on Earth. These signs include Lt. Surge having the nickname of "The Lightning American" and a scientist on Cinnabar Island who makes reference to having lived in Russia's "No-man's land."
I would like to introduce these ideas into the article, although it should probably still be stated that kanto is indeed a fantasy land. Discgolfrules 00:32, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
