Kahl am Main is a municipality in Bavaria in Germany, and is located at the border to Hesse and the river Main.
In 1961 the first nuclear reactor in Germany, the "Versuchsatomkraftwerk Kahl" (Test reactor Kahl) was built in Kahl am Main. It was shut down in 1985 and the reactor has been demolished.
