- Thanks for the welcome and the info - though I have already been through some of it, I am aware that there is still a lot to learn about the nuances of editing and behaviour in the wiki world. Juzeris 17:01, 6 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Latvian mythology
I believe most of those articles came from Encyclopedia Mythica. Tuf-Kat 03:34, Mar 26, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Your note
Hi there. I got your note on my user page. I just love it when people sign there. It makes me feel like I'm part of a community, and there are people who notice me (though it's probably doing something stupid). I wonder where you did notice me, anyway, since I don't recall having met you before. Well, I'll notice you back. Riga, eh? Well, my knowledge of it is limited to what I know about the Hanseatic League (it's probably progressed a bit since then) and the Smithsonian article I read recently about Vilnius (I imagine them to be similar, which probably offends all Latvians, because that's just the kind of stupid remark I'd make). Anyway, I'm wasting your time... Glad that you took the time to say hi, and see you 'round! --Dmcdevit·t 09:03, July 24, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] User category
Sorry about that categorization as a Lithuanian. I did changes in bulk, so I wasn't as concentrated. PeepP 18:45, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
- Never mind. :) --Jūzeris | Talk 18:59, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] asking for support
Hello, since you are interested in Lithuania I thought hat you might support our letter to Centre for Cartography, Vilnius University. We are asking to release their maps found at www.balticdata.info under GFDL licence so they could be used in articles about Lithuania. So far we got 14 people to "sign" it. The draft in very very rough English is available at user:Renata3/letter. If you decide to support it, I'll need just your first and last names together with your user name. You can leave it on my talk page or send it via email: just attact @gmail.com to my user name. Renata3 22:33, 3 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Science pearls
Hi,
I address you as the ambassador of your wikipedia. Please notice the above project.
This project, more than other projects, will benefit from inter-wiki cooperation. Can you post a message regarding this project at your wikipedia village pump?
Thanks for your help, APH from the English wiki
- I have posted a message informing about this project. --Jūzeris | Talk 20:43, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Some strange festival
Hi, I just saw this entry in Holiday section on November 5 article: "Ancient Latvia - the festival Katrina." I have never heard about it and I could not Google it up. Can you verify that it is really true? Thanks. Renata3 03:33, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
- So could you please correct it to best of your knowledge? Because I have no knowledge at all. It just saw and thought it's strange. And it's gonna be on the main page in 4 days, so... Renata3 22:26, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] French Language Films
I notice you are redirecting films to their French titles. You may want to reconsider. According to naming policy, most articles on French films are named incorrectly. Policy says that they should be listed by the name they are most known by in English speaking countries. As most French films are given English titles, the links often have the name that the articles should have. Eventually, most of the articles should be moved to the English names, and the links wouldn't need to be changed. I have considered working on this, but it is very low on my list of things to do. Anyway, I hope you stop changing the links (by by-passing the redirects), as it will make more work in the future.
Of course, some films are best known by their French names, and their articles should be titled in French. -- Samuel Wantman 20:44, 4 November 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Andris Biedriņš
I have merged the copy-paste move to the correct title. Note that Andris Biedrins is kept as a {{R from title without diacritics}}, and all such redirects should be categorized as such. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 17:50, Dec. 18, 2005
[edit] Baltic States
Hi, surely the Baltic States are commonly understood in English as Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia and the article Baltic States should primarily deal with that? The article as it is is 95% about them as it is, and this conception of 'Baltic Countries' while valid (e.g. http://www.cbss.st ?) is somewhat secondary to the existing meaning. Disclaimer: I have no specific knowledge on this, only snooping around because I'm off to Riga next week! -- Blorg 23:39, 25 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Latvian Prime Ministers
Hi Jūzeris. Thanks a lot for the input. I was very much in doubt about that one. I simply used the government list, and saw that this spelling was also used on three dead links, compared to a single one for "-ans". My edits to the page were based on the Latvian version of the same page combined with the list from the Cabinet of Ministers.
I'm somewhat uncertain about Voldemārs Zāmuels as well. I think this is the correct spelling, but I'm not 100% sure. The list from the Cabinet of Ministers spells his surname as "Zāmuēls", but the Latvian Wikipedia uses "Zāmuels". I'd also be very happy, if you could tell me the Latvian name of the Democratic Centre Party from the 1920s? Thanks for the mail, and best regards. --Valentinian (talk) 21:27, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
