[edit] High school career

Rascati was a star basketball and football player at Buchholz High School, he broke numerous passing records formerly owned by former University of Florida quarterback Doug Johnson. Rascati was The Gainesville Sun 's class 3A-5A player of the year as a senior and was first team all-state his junior and senior years. He was also first team all-state in basketball as a junior.

[edit] College career

[edit] Louisville

Rascati went onto University of Louisville where he was redshirted as a freshman and saw a little playing time in mop-up duty his second year. When the Louisville staff decided to recruit Brian Brohm, Rascati realized he had little chance of starting and chose to transfer to James Madison before the 2004 season.

[edit] James Madison

Rascati's first season at James Madison was not his most statistically impressive season, but still the most successful. That season, Rascati passed for 2,045 yards and fourteen touchdowns to only five interceptions for a quarterback rating of 138.9. He also added 375 yards rushing and 10 rushing touchdowns. All this helped him lead the team to a 9-2 regular season record and a bid to the postseason tournament. Rascati and the Dukes became the first team to ever win three games on the road to reach and win the Division I-AA Championship Game. While Rascati didn't pass for any touchdowns in this game, he did rush for two helping JMU beat University of Montana 31-21.

While Rascati was statistically more impressive in each of his next two seasons (his passer rating rose each season), he wouldn't lead the team to the success of that first year. In 2005, the Dukes missed the playoffs with a 7-4 record.

2006 brought back hopes of a championship team, as James Madison went 9-2 and made the playoffs, but lost to Youngstown State University in the first round. Rascati ended his career at James Madison as the most successful QB in school history.[citation needed]

[edit] Professional career

Justin Rascati went undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft. He had a tryout with the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) and the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL), but neither team chose to sign him. Rascati has stated wanting to play in the Arena Football League and has some workouts coming up.[citation needed] He was eventually signed by the Peoria Pirates of af2 before having tryouts with the Colorado Crush and Orlando Predators, both of the AFL. Rascati's contract with Peoria is voidable if he is picked up by the NFL, AFL, CFL or AAFL.[1]

He is also serving as as substitute teacher for his alma mater, Buchholz High School, until the season begins. He was recently selected by Team Florida in the AAFL Supplemental draft.[2]
