"Julia Dream" is the b-side of the Pink Floyd single "It Would Be So Nice". It was later released in the compilation album Relics, as well as on The Early Singles disc included in the Shine On boxed set. The last album it was put on, was on "The Best Of The Pink Floyd" which is largely unknown. This album also has many of early singles which are not in other compilation albums. The lyrics are written by Roger Waters and sung by David Gilmour.
The song is characterised by the slow tempo, the airy, ambient Mellotron sounds and the heavy muffling effect on the chorus vocals. The melody of this song is based on the British lullaby All The Pretty Little Horses.
For some years people wondered what the final whispered lines in Julia Dream were (in the same way that some people thought that John Lennon said: "I've buried Paul" on Strawberry Fields Forever when he actually quite clearly said "Cranberry Sauce"). The whispered line in Julia Dream is clearly: "Save me".
