Juan Merino Ruiz, aka Juan Merino, (born 24 August 1970 in Cádiz) is a Spanish footballer that played for La Liga sides Real Betis and Recreativo de Huelva. Juan Merino is a central defender. He retired from football in 2007.

Juan Merino joined the Betis first team in 1990, becoming club captain in later years. Out of his twelve years at the club, eight were in the top flight. He appeared in 203 La Liga games, scoring just two goals.
[edit] Recreativo
Juan Merino joined Recreativo in 2002. In his first season the club were relegated, but were promoted once again in 2006. He featured in 38 La Liga games for the club.
