From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm a theoretical physicist, currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at UCLA. I graduated from the University of Michigan in 2006 with my PhD in physics and received my B.S. in physics at the University of Delaware.

My interests are generally rather conceptual or mathematical in nature, rather than phenomenological. My general sub-field is often called high energy physics, and more specifically you could call me a string theorist. I don't like any of those designations though, since many of my interests are rather long-distance or low-energy in nature and have very little to do with particle physics. Also, the term "string theorist" seems to invoke, in this day and age, some kind of partisan affiliation. But to me, string theory is simply a tool to investigate various ideas since it is the most developed and thus currently most capable of addressing, at least in principle, many questions in quantum gravity.

My Wikipedia activity is mostly in talk page discussions or in correcting random errors that I come across. I hate to say that I have been somewhat discouraged in large-scale work due to the combative nature of WP. But I have a few pet pages, small articles, that I check up on sometimes and do a few additions.

[edit] Some pet projects on Wikipedia

One thing that I found very nice about mathematics articles on Wikipedia is that there are many technical articles that I can go to for use in my research. I would like to encourage more physics articles like this. Somewhat in this vein, the above pet projects of mine are meant to discuss some more technical and specialized topics in string theory.
