For another Brazilian footballer named Zé Maria , see José Maria Rodrigues Alves.

Zé Maria (real name José Marcelo Ferreira, born July 25, 1973) is a Brazilian football player. He is known for his pin point crosses. He can play either as a right midfielder or a right wing back.

Born in Oeiras, Brazil, he signed with Portuguesa in 1996, before switching to Flamengo a year later. After a successful season, he moved to Italy with Parma, where he enjoyed a productive spell. He has played also for Palmeiras, Vasco da Gama and Cruzeiro. In the summer of 1999 he moved to Perugia, before transferring to Internazionale in 2003. He was released on a free transfer by Internazionale in the summer of 2006. In August he signed for Levante UD in Spain.

After unsuccessful negotiations with several clubs, reportedly Sheffield United and QPR, he returned to Brazil and to Portuguesa in January 2008.
