Jonathan Wilson is an American musician and producer who was born in Spindale, North Carolina in 1977. He founded the band Muscadine with Benji Hughes in 1995. Muscadine released their debut album for Sire Records in 1998, called "the Ballad of Hope Nichols". Wilson and Hughes were scouted and then signed by legendary music maverick Seymour Stein, who also brought the world the Talking Heads, Madonna, and The Ramones. Joey Ramone was an early champion of Muscadine, attending their shows and supporting the music. The debut album from the band was produced and played almost entirely by Wilson, who used the pseudonym "?" as his production name.
Wilson now lives in the fabled Laurel Canyon section of Los Angeles. He was scheduled to release a solo album titled, "Frankie Ray" in 2007. He has also recorded in 2007 with Johnathan Rice, for Reprise Records, Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes and Phil Lesh from the Grateful Dead.In 2008, Wilson has recorded with Jenny Lewis for her second solo effort for Warner Brothers Records.
