Dr. Jonathan Mark Kenoyer (born May 28, 1952, in Shillong, India) is an American archaeologist and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, Master's, and Doctorate degrees at the University of California, Berkeley, finishing in 1983.

Considered one of the world's leading experts on the Ancient Indus Valley Civilization, Dr. Kenoyer is involved in the development of a new center for its study in Gujarat, India, as part of the Global Heritage project. As the curator of several important exhibitions on the subject, he has made the Western public aware of the beauty and intricacy of the crafts of the Ancient Indus Civilization. He has also authored of several books as well as numerous articles and reviews in professional journals and texts.

In addition to being a member of the American Anthropological Association, he has served as the president of the American Institute of Pakistan Studies since 2005. Known for his interest in ancient technologies, he has combined both experimental archaeology with traditional methods in his research on ceramics, beads, and other craft specializations. As a fluent speaker of Urdu, Hindi, and Bengali, as well as other South Asian languages, Dr. Kenoyer's research has exhibited an authenticity and objectivity often missing in the field. Contemporary craft traditions are the legacy of ancient traditions and Dr. Kenoyer's innovative studies have shown the relationship between these craft traditions and the social stratification of ancient Indus society.
