John Reccius (October 29, 1859 – September 1, 1930) was an American 19th century Major League Baseball player from Louisville, Kentucky who pitched and played in the outfield during his two seasons for the Louisville Eclipse of the American Association.
John had two brothers who were also involved heavily in baseball.[1] Phil Reccius was a Major League player for 8 seasons, much of which was with Lousville, and Bill Reccius was the founder and manager for the mid-1870s version of the Louisville Eclipse, though he did not manage or play in the majors.[2] John and his brothers were childhood friends of other ballplayers who came from Louisville, such as Pete Browning[3], and Jimmy Wolf.
John died in Louisville, Kentucky at the age of 70, and was buried in Cave Hill Cemetery.[4]
