[edit] Career
Mullins came up through the youth system at Reading and captained the reserve side but did not graduate to the first-team.[1][2] He had two successful spells on loan at Kidderminster Harriers during the 2004–05 and 2005–06 season, where he made 50 appearances in all competitions for Kidderminster and collected a Player of the Season award.[1][2] At the end of the 2005–06 season, he was released by Reading and joined Mansfield on a two-year contract.[3] He immediately established himself in the first-team and made 48 appearances in the 2006–07 season, scoring two goals.[4] In the 2007–08 season, Mullins was described by manager Billy Dearden as the most improved player in League Two[5] and won Mansfield's Player of the Season award.[6] After Mansfield Town were relegated to the Football Conference at the end of the 2007–08 season, he was out of contract and turned down the offer of a new contract, saying that he wanted to stay in the Football League.[7]
