John Meredyth Lucas

John Meredyth Lucas (May 1, 1919 - October 19, 2002) was a writer, primarily for television. He is best remembered for the work he did on Star Trek as a writer, producer and director. He was the only writer on the original series to direct an episode he penned ("Elaan of Troyius"). He also wrote for Mannix.
He was the son of screenwriter Bess Meredyth and writer/director Wilfred Lucas, and the adopted son of director Michael Curtiz.[1]
He was cremated and his ashes were launched into space in 2007.[2]
