John F. Smith

John F. Smith is an American soap opera writer and producer. During the Writers Guild of America strike of 2007-08, he chose financial core status with the Writers Guild of America and continued working. [1] [2]
Smith is best known for his stints as head writer of The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. However, during Smith's tenure on Y&R, its ratings dropped by over two million viewers. Most of the loss occurred in 2004 when Smith co-wrote the show with longtime Y&R scribe Kay Alden. It should be noted that all soap operas during this period experienced a similar scale of massive audience erosion.
