Jockey's Ridge State Park is a North Carolina state park in Dare County, North Carolina, North Carolina in the United States. Located in Nags Head, North Carolina, it covers 420 acres (1.7 km²) and includes the largest natural sand dune system in the eastern U.S. Often when it rains water collects near the bottom of the dunes thus creating a temporary lake. Few fauna can be seen although some types of flora may be readily identified closer to the bottom of the dunes, such as tall grass. The park has a small museum which doubles as its visitors center. Also located at the park is a small hang gliding school.
