Jit Sin High School (Malay: Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Jit Sin; Chinese: 日新国民型中学) is a secondary school located in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, Malaysia.

Jit Sin High School used to share the same compound with Jit Sin Independent High School in Jalan Aston, but later moved into a new school compound in Taman Sri Rambai. Students attend classes from Form 1 to Form 6, and these are organized into the morning and afternoon sessions. Jit Sin High School has posted unprecedented success in public examinations like the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR)[1], Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)[2] and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM)[3]. This success is largely due to a merit-based selection of students from primary education. The minimum requirement for acceptance to study in Jit Sin High School is a maximum of 9 points scored in the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), although the requirements are much more lenient for students from its feeder school[citation needed].

[edit] Recent Developments (as of 2007)
Recently, the JSHS Harmonica and Choir Club and JSHS Environmental Cadets have been disbanded as a uniformed body. This significant change to the school co-curricular system was made by the current principal, Mr. Tan Kim Tong. Whether this change has shown any significant improvement to the school co-curricular system remains yet to be seen.
Recently, the school has seen numerous changes made by the principal as an effort to improve discipline among the ranks of the student population of the school - notably the installation of a number of closed-circuit television (CCTV) surviellance cameras in various parts of the school. Stricter regulations has also been enforced by the school disciplinary board.

Jit Sin High School has always set the benchmark for academic success in terms of public examination results or academic related competitions. Every year, there are many Jit Sin students who have obtained straight As in PMR, SPM and STPM and often ranked among the top few in the nation.[1][2][3]
