Jinjoseon

According to some Korean historians (see Hwandan Gogi), Jinjoseon (진조선) was the main provincial state of Gojoseon, and was ruled directly by the Danguns. Asadal, the capital of Gojoseon, was located in Jinjoseon.

[edit] Change of Dynasty
Gojoseon was always ruled by the direct descendant of the first Dangun Wanggeom. There were different dynasty changes that were transferrings of power among the descendants of Dangun Wanggeom. When Moolli Dangun was killed with no legitimate heir in 461 BCE, Gumul, who was the governor of Baekminseong, was selected to become the next dangun, eventually becoming Jinjoseon's 44th dangun, and Gojoseon's new Supreme Dangun.

As Jinjoseon's authority over the other two provincial states began to crumble, the entire empire of Gojoseon itself began to fall tremendously. In 239 BC, the last Dangun of Jinjoseon abdicated and lived in the mountains for the rest of his life, and the young General Haemosu established Bukbuyeo during the same year. Bukbuyeo ruled from 239 BC to 58 BC, when it was eventually succeeded by Goguryeo, led in 37 BC by Jumong, a descendant of both Gojoseon and Bukbuyeo.
