[edit] Musical career
Corr plays acoustic and electric guitar as well as piano, keyboard, accordion and background vocals. He has also had an active role in the production aspects of all of their albums to present date, working with David Foster and Olle Romo on two separate albums. He sang a few of his own lines in the song 1999,a cover of the Prince song.
[edit] Charity work and recognition
The Corr siblings were awarded honorary MBEs in 2005 by Queen Elizabeth II, in recognition of their musical talents and also their charitable work which raised money for Freeman Hospital in Newcastle, victims of the Omagh Bombing and other charities. [1]
He is also heavily involved with charity causes, playing at concerts to raise money for non-profit organisations and appeals such as the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle (where his mother was treated), the victims of the Omagh bombing and the Prince's Trust. Jim and his sisters were also involved in the Live 8 series of concerts, performing at Edinburgh in mid-2005 alongside Bono and other acts such as Annie Lennox, Eddie Izzard and Bob Geldof. He also performed at Nelson Mandela's 46664 concert in South Africa, to help raise awareness of the growing AIDS epidemic in Africa.
Corr currently holds an Irish Private Helicopter's Pilot Licence, allowing him to fly small aircraft such as his Robinson R44 Raven II helicopter (registration G-SWAT).
[edit] Personal life
In November 2005 he announced his engagement to former Miss Northern Ireland Gayle Williamson. On May 10, 2006 Gayle gave birth to the couple's first child, a son named Brandon. Jim and Gayle had planned on getting married, but have separated.
Corr holds controversial views on many subjects of contemporary political interest. On May 29, 2008 Corr appeared as a guest on The Last Word, the flagship current affairs program of Irish radio station Today FM.[2] During the interview, Corr went to great lengths to spell out his opposition to the Lisbon treaty, much of which centres on his contention that the sole purpose of the treaty is to hasten the formation of a new world order, and his belief that the treaty is a framework on which will be based the eventual subjugation of all Irish people. However, as with his claims about the new world order which he believes the treaty is intended to bring about, Corr refused to elaborate on the specific details of this claim when pressed by host Matt Cooper. Corr proceeded to outline several other controversial opinions which he holds dear, including his "absolute support," based on "years of selfless, dedicated study of various documents on the internet," of the false flag conspiracy theory of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.[3]
