Jesmond is a suburb of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, located 10 kilometres (6 mi) from Newcastle's central business district. It is part of the City of Newcastle local government area.

Jesmond Jewfish are the local soccer team, and notable past players include Matthew Johns and most probably Joey Johns.

Jesmond was originally known as Dark Creek. The area developed from the landowner’s steam saw mills and employment in local orchards, quarries and mines. By 1883 there were 600 residents and an established village. In the 1880’s, John Campion opened a soap works in Jesmond and by the early 1900’s his brand was well know throughout NSW[1]. Jesmond was named after the Tynside town in the North of England[2].

Jesmond provides a commercial centre as well as residential area for both students of the University and the aging, with specific aged housing facilities. Jesmond has become a multicultural area due to many international university students living in the suburb[1].
