Jerk was an industrial metal band from Sydney, Australia. The band's final line-up was comprised of Mario Spate (vocals), Lamar Lowder (drums), Charles Cilia (guitar) and Leeno Dee (bass). The band was formed by veteran producer/remixer/drummer Lamar Lowder (Powerman 5000, Machines of Loving Grace) in 1999 when a demo of the Lowder written and performed Jesus Saves was selected to be included in the soundtrack to Australian horror film Cut[1]. In 2001, the band released a self-titled 6 track EP and 3 accompanying video clips directed by Lowder. These releases led to an appearance at the long-running Metal For The Brain festival in Canberra late in the year, and in April 2002 Jerk signed to Sony Records.

Their full-length debut album When Pure Is Defiled was co-produced by Sean Beavan and Lamar Lowder and released in 2003, having been preceded by the single "I Hate People Like That" in late 2002. The album reached the national Top 30. Music videos were produced for "I Hate People Like That", "Just What You Need", and the Lowder directed "My Friends All Lie". These videos received heavy rotation on popular Australian music television station Channel V and the band also played live on that channel.

Jerk embarked on a national tour in 2003 to promote the album, and performances included support slots for Marilyn Manson, Insane Clown Posse, Killing Joke and Disturbed on the Sydney leg of their Australian tours. They were also set to perform again at Metal For the Brain but later withdrew when Devoy was ejected from the band in 2004.

Jerk was exposed to the North American market when their song, "Sucked In", featured in the soundtracks of the video games NHL 2004 and Need for Speed: Underground.

Devoy was eventually replaced by Spate but the group soon broke up. The groups founder Lamar Lowder has since returned to music production and songwriting. In January 2006, Dee and Cilia reunited with Devoy to form a new band called Ink. Ink has subsequently released an EP.
