[edit] Merge discussion

I propose that this article be merged with the Saw III article. My reasoning is that since the character only appears in that film, all information regarding the character should be found in the film's article and anything in a separate character article is redundant. A film character should only have their own article when information regarding the character is spread out over more than one film (e.g. Jigsaw or Amanda) or if they've been subject of substantial analysis. The importance of the character to the story is not a factor. Please vote yay or nay below with your reasoning.

  • Agree - Merge nominator. Mcr29 19:49, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Disagree - While I do think Jigsaw and Amanda are the only essential characters, the main protagonists of the film are important to the series as a whole. This goes for Jeff, Lynn, Gordon and Matthews. (Adam I'm not decided on, although his role in Saw III was a bit important to Amanda). And character articles usually go into more specific detail whereas film summaries are more broader.
It wouldn't be the end of the world if this was removed, but its not like the article is a fancruft like the Paul and Mark articles.--CyberGhostface 21:03, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
  • Disagree - I believe the main protagonists (Jeff, Lynn, Eric Matthews, Dr. Gordon, Adam) should have seperate articles the same as Jigsaw and Amanda, as the roles of Jeff etc affect the plot of the series just as much as Jigsaw and Amanda. JackOfHearts 06:00, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

I guess not many people are particularly interested so I'll take this time to respond to the two "Disagrees". I'm not arguing the importance of the characters to the films (they are the main characters of the films they appear in, obviously they are important). However importance does not automatically make one eligible for an article. The purpose of an encyclopedia is to put all information regarding a subject into a single place. For example, Ellen Ripley from the Alien movie series has her own article because without it, one would have to read several articles (one for each movie) to get all information available for her. With Jeff Reinhart, all information regarding his character is contained in Saw III (or at least it should be through the plot synopsis). Therefore a separate article for him is not necessary. The same applies to all characters in the series except for Amanda and Jigsaw. I hope I'm conveying my thoughts clearly. It's not about importance or impact on a storyline, it's about the consolidation of information. Everything in this article is a duplicate of what's in the Saw III article, some of it nearly word for word. Same goes for Lynn, they basically echo the plot synopsis with just a slightly different perspective. Now if Jeff were to appear in Saw IV in a significant manner then I would agree that he needs his own article. Mcr29 22:58, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

* Agree with merge proposal. Velanet 14:24, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re-added?

Well, this article, as well as Adam Faulkner, Detective Eric Matthews, and Lynn Denlon have been re-made. The only one that was re-made and re-merged was Lawrence Gordon (Saw). Even though these were ALL voted to be merged, should Lawrence's article be re-made again? Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 02:41, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wrong Name

Jeff's name is Denlon, i changed almost all Places where he is called Reinhart, but i don't know where i can change the Titel

It's not the wrong name. If you note, on the back of the DVD cover... "While city detectives scramble to locate him, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff Reinhart (Angus Macfayden)... Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 01:51, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
lool, i read that it is a fan-made name, someone put it on IMDB and after a while Lion Gates take the name, too. But in fact it would be the wrong name, because his wife's name is Denlon
It was a fan-made name, probably spawning from the House of Jigsaw forum, but the fact is that Lions Gate, who own the rights to Saw, went with the name, and confirmed it by releasing it on the DVD cover. Lynn's last name is Denlon, yes, but it's not uncommon for a woman to keep her last name when marrying, if not hyphenating it (which would be Lynn Denlon-Reinhart). Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 23:16, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] merge from Lynn Denlon

My rationale for this possible move is that Lynn is already dead, while Jeff may be a recurring character. I figure if these articles were rewritten out-of-universe there wouldn't be enough information to sustain them. Any objections? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 21:29, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

No problem here.--CyberGhostface 15:30, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
I agree. We should rename the article into the family name though or something, shouldn't we? Like, "Reinhart family (Saw)" or something. It would save space... Jack Of Hearts | Miss A Turn 01:51, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
