Jay Rifkin

Jay Rifkin is a Grammy and Tony Award winning music producer.
He created the company Media Ventures with Hans Zimmer, a friend since childhood, whom he partnered with to produce and compose with. Media Ventures is a diverse entertainment group that includes music, new media, film and television. Their partnership has earned them numerous awards and nominations, including Academy Award nominations, for the film scores of Driving Miss Daisy, Rain Man and The Lion King. After The Lion King became hugely successful, Jay conceived and produced the gold-selling follow-up album Rhythm of the Pride Lands. Jay and Hans has a falling out in 2003 which resulted in a lawsuit between the two, supposedly over Hans' secretly plotting with their company's composers to quit working with Jay.[1]
He is also chairman of Media Revolution, an award-winning new media company, which he founded in 1977. Media Revolution is part of Cyberia Holdings, which Jay is also CEO of, and Hans Zimmer the vice-president[2]. He is also a founder of the film production company Media Ventures Pictures, producer of the comedy Waiting....
Rifkin was the managing partner of Media Ventures through his company Mojo Music. In 1995 he started Mojo Records, which became a joint venture with Universal Records in 1996, and was subsequently sold to Zomba/BMG in 2001.[3]
Jay is currently chairmen and CEO of Digicorp Media,[4], a company focused on both acquiring and developing content, software and other media.[5]
