Tosa (Named for Tosa Province, Japan) was a planned battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy and was to be the lead ship of the Tosa class. The Tosa, part of the Japanese 8/8 Program of the early 1920s, was intended to be a "High-Speed Battleship" similar to her predecessors, the Nagato and Mutsu. Armor was reduced in favor of another turret. Tosa was the first Japanese warship with an inclined main deck towards the bow.
