Did van der Lans ever used the term "cult" in his writings? ≈ jossi ≈ t@ 17:21, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

More the Dutch word "sekte" than the English word cult, but he did use both of the terms. See e.g. here The abortive birth of a destructive cult [1] by Frans Derks; Jan M. van der Lans Update IX 1 March 1985. He also explained the definition of a cult according to Yinger in his book "Volgelingen van de goeroe/Followers of the guru". And apart from that I think that Wikipedia should explain jargon. See wikipedia:words to avoid. Almost every person who wrote about NRMs incl. Jan van der Lans first started by explaining the term NRM and comparing it to terms, like sekte or cult. Thanks for the explanation. ≈ jossi ≈ t@ 19:36, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Just letting you know that the {{expand}} tag is to be placed on the article and not on talk. ≈ jossi ≈ t@ 23:49, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Not a christian counter cult writer

If Jan van der Lans was a christian counter cult writer then he is an atypical one. I admit when reading from this article that there are some indications that he could have been one, but his writings are not from a christian counter cult perspective and certainly not so in tone and methodlogy (often empirically). Andries 10:06, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Maybe not, however he 1)Was a Christian 2) "opposes) religious groups whose doctrines or practices do not fit within (his) definition of mainstream Christianity." - what else is needed? Sfacets 10:22, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

ad 2.. No he does not do so in his writings
Reliable sources are needed. Andries 10:24, 28 October 2007 (UTC) amended 10:35, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
