Description	Slovenski politik in narodni voditelj, izdajatelj Kmetijskih in rokodelskih novic. Zgodovina ga opisuje kot spornega človeka, ki je hitro menjal prepričanja in načela. Njegov odnos do Prešerna je ambivalenten, čeprav mu ne gre zanikati zaslug pri uvrščanju Prešerna na literarni in širši kulturni zemljevid Slovenije. Zavzel se je za postavitev spomenika na pokopališču v Kranju. V zadnjih letih pesnikovega življenja je skušal Prešerna trdneje vključiti v javno življenje; poskrbel je za objavo nekaterih pesmi, kar je onemoglemu Prešernu predvsem dvignilo moralo.
