[edit] January 2006 comment =

Right now, somebody has edited this to a massive copy of www.marcinkowskiforcongress.com/about_jim.asp though it contains decent new information, needs a rewrite. Sherurcij (talk) (bounties) 17:15, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Verification of Marcinkowski's Prosecutor's Office Tenure

Paper: Detroit Free Press (MI) Title: FORMER EMPLOYEE SUES OAKLAND PROSECUTOR Date: July 29, 1993 A former top aide sued Oakland County Prosecutor Richard Thompson on Wednesday, charging that Thompson publicly belittled him and deprived him of his right to free speech.

The suit was filed in Oakland County Circuit Court by James Marcinkowski, Thompson's former executive staff attorney. It stems from a bitter public feud between the two in recent weeks. Marcinkowski left Thompson's office in late June. The two had clashed over how the office handled an investigation into gambling involving another assistant prosecutor, Paul Rinaldi. A week later, Marcinkowski publicly denounced Thompson and his policies before an Oakland County Commissioners committee. Marcinkowski accused Thompson of using investigators like "storm troopers" to intimidate employees.

Thompson, in response, told reporters that Marcinkowski was a disgruntled employee who had refused to cooperate in the gambling probe and was exhibiting "bizarre behavior."

Paper: Detroit Free Press (MI) Title: STATE WON'T PURSUE CORRUPTION ACCUSATIONS Date: September 8, 1993 The state Attorney General's Office has declined to investigate corruption allegations against Oakland County Prosecutor Richard Thompson, citing a lack of "specific information" that Thompson broke any laws.

James Marcinkowski, Thompson's former chief assistant, had accused him of wrongdoing and intimidation when Marcinkowski left the prosecutor's office in June. The accusations prompted Democratic officials to call for an investigation.

Thank you, don't revert since you've removed the information about his award again, but now having the title of the article and date, is useful. Are there online archives of this article? Sherurcij (talk) (Terrorist Wikiproject) 01:45, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Yes, there are online archives. Limited text of archived DFP articles is available at its website, www.freep.com. As for the CIA award, Wikipedia requires verification from a "reliable" publication. I don't think a campaign web site qualifies.

[edit] party switch

This guy sounds like he was a lifelong Republican, now running as a Democrat, see he's criticized the Bush Administration over the Plame issue, is this his sole reason for switching parties? Seems this article should explain this as it is unusual for someone this entrenched to switch parties...

[edit] WP:BLP

I re-created the bio page. Marcinkowski is notable for his work in US intelligence, for his outspoken reaction to the Plame affair, and for his testimony to the Senate subcommittee. All of this occurred prior to his run for Congress. If there is stuff on this page that is promotional or POV, it should be removed, but that is not a good reason to delete the page. If someone thinks this page fails notability, it should be put up for AfD, not moved to another title. Thanks!--csloat 22:48, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

I respectfully disagree. I don't think Marcinkowski meets notable person guidelines and should be put nominated AfD. I think it's telling that Marcinkowski's name doesn't appear in the Plame Affair article, although he certainly did testify. Perhaps merging it without going the AfD route was a mistake on John's part. I didn't say anything because I silently agreed with the change. --Jeff 22:56, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
That is perhaps telling about the Plame affair piece; this guy seems pretty notable to me regardless of whether a wikipedia editor saw fit to quote him there. But as you seem to agree, the proper way to deal with this is AfD if you are so inclined.csloat 00:04, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
I am inclined to go on with the AfD due to the WP:C&E policies. Please see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/James_Marcinkowski or Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2006_November_12 to participate. --Jeff 00:14, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Got it; thanks! As I wrote there, you are incorrect that the article was created in the wake of his election bid. It was created in august 2005 in the wake of his senate testimony, months before his campaign started. csloat 00:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Right you are, thanks for the correction.--Jeff 00:37, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:VincentCannistraro-LarryJohnson-JamesMacinkowski.jpg

Image:VincentCannistraro-LarryJohnson-JamesMacinkowski.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
