Bishop James Peter Sartain (J. Peter Sartain) is the fourth and current Bishop of the Diocese of Joliet. Prior to his appointment as the Bishop of Joliet on 16 May 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI, he was the Bishop of Little Rock. Bishop Sartain was born on June 6, 1952, in Memphis, Tennessee. On July 15, 1978 he was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Memphis, and he was appointed as Bishop of the Diocese of Little Rock on January 4, 2000. On May 16, 2006, he was appointed as bishop of the Diocese of Joliet and the initiation ceremony was celebrated on June 27, 2006, in the Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus[1]
