This article needs an image (preferably free) related to the subject, such as a picture of the set or a film poster. A possibility for American films from before 1964 would be a screenshot from the trailer, as these are now in the public domain. Please make sure fair use is properly observed, or the image will be removed. See WP:Films MOS for image guidelines and assistance in uploading.

Moved from the former talk page for Es geschah am 20. Juli:

Then why isn't this under Jackboot Mutiny if that's the titl;e it's known by? Wetman 00:15, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I don't know the particulars of the film, but it could be that it is actually more widely known under the German title. Hmm. --snoyes 00:18, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Well, it's under Jackboot Mutiny too now.... Wetman 00:19, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

I wrote the article under the German title as that's how it was listed in the G.W. Pabst filmography.

It would appear that the convention in the English version of Wikipedia is to list artistic works (films in particular) under the English-language title, rather than under the title under which the film was produced, as is done on IMDB. Is that correct? 209.149.235.241 01:36, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Not necessarily. It depends on how well it's known. I know we have an article at Life is Beautiful because that's how it's known to English speakers, but we also have Les Misérables. It depends on how it's known. RickK 01:46, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Known where? The US, English-speaking countries, worldwide, or some other criterion? 209.149.235.241 01:56, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)
This is the English language Wikipedia. You do the math. RickK 16:38, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Please do not bite the newcomers. It is indeed rather difficult to set forth a standard test to measure which usage is more common. --snoyes 16:44, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)
Thanks, I needed that.
I checked Wikipedia:Naming conventions (movies) (movies) and this is not addressed there. Maybe this discussion should be moved to Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (movies) so that this can be added to the style manual. 209.149.235.241 22:13, 26 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Since no one stepped forward to debate it I made the German title page into a redirect and moved its talk page here.
