Jón Thoroddsen elder

Jón Thoroddsen elder (October 5, 1818 or 1819 – March 8, 1868) was an Icelandic author.
His novels Piltur og Stúlka (Boy and Girl) and Maður og Kona (Man and Woman) mark the beginning of the modern Icelandic novel. His son, Þorvaldur Thoroddsen, became a well-known scientist.
