ITV Weather

ITV National Weather is the national forecast shown on UK terrestrial network ITV, and is provided by the Met Office. Bulletins are usually broadcast after every ITV News bulletin (except the Morning News and News Summaries).

The bulletin features the longest sponsorship deal on UK terrestrial TV to date. From September 1989 to June 2007, ITV National Weather was sponsored by the energy supplier Powergen, and since then by Powergen's parent company E.ON; however in 2007, the sponsorship ended after 18 years.^[1] This was confirmed on November 21, 2007, when it was revealed that insurance firm esure is to replace E.ON as the sponsor of ITV's national weather bulletins. The two-year deal, rumoured to be worth £10 million, was negotiated by Carat Sponsorship and began on January 1, 2008, with esure's Sheilas' Wheels as the sponsor.^[2] Sheila's Wheels sponsorship did not, however, appear on UTV in Northern Ireland for ITV National Weather. GoCompare.com sponsorship is substituted there due to Sheilas' Wheels (esure) insurance services being unavailable in Northern Ireland. Just a few weeks after Sheila's Wheels took over as the official sponsor of the forecasts, the brand was dropped in favour of esure. However the Sheila's Wheels sponsor has since returned.
