Isthmian League Cup 2008-09 |
The Isthmian League Cup is the knock-out cup competition organised by the Isthmian League, since 1974-75. In the first season, entry was restricted to Isthmian League Second Division clubs, Tilbury beat Croydon Amateurs in the final over two legs. Since 1975-76 however the competition has been open to all members of the Isthmian League
The formal title of the competition changes according to its official sponsors. In seasons 2005-06 and 2006-07 the cup has been known as the Westview League Cup, however the competition has been sponsored in the past by Hitachi (1977-85), AC Delco (1985-91) and Bryco amongst others.
Many clubs to have competed in the Isthmian League Cup have gone on to play in the football league, Wycombe Wanderers are a good example of this. Other well known clubs to have competed in this competition include Dagenham & Redbridge.
