Islip railway station serves the village of Islip, Oxfordshire, England. Islip is located just to the north-east of Oxford — services run south to Oxford 9 km (5 miles) away (sometimes continuing to Didcot and beyond) and north-east to Bicester.
It is served by First Great Western using Class 165 Diesel Multiple Units.
[edit] History
Islip was originally a double tracked two-platform station with a goods shed. However, in December 1968 it was closed to passengers, along with the rest of the Oxford to Bletchley and Bedford to Cambridge sections of the Varsity Line. [[1]]
In 1987 Network South East reopened the Oxford-Bicester line, and in 1989 Islip was reopened as a single platform unstaffed halt.
[edit] Services
Mondays to Saturdays there is an infrequent service northbound to Bicester Town and southbound to Oxford with no Sunday service.
