Isha (Fantasy) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isha (Fantasy)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isha is a fictional deity from the Warhammer Fantasy setting. She is the mother of all Elves, the Goddess of harvest and nature. Depicted as an Elf of life and beauty, the Elves of Averlorn follow her. Winter never blemished the glades of Avelorn with her blessing. The Elves were taught by Isha to farm and take care of the land.

Isha's symbol is an eye shedding a tear. In the beginning it was Asuryan who decided that Elves would die as all things do. They still lived for hundreds of years, but they would still die. This tear is for the tears that Isha wept for her mortal children.

[edit] Warhammer 40,000

Isha also exists in Warhammer 40,000. In the futuristic setting she fulfills the same role for the Eldar as her fantasy counterpart for the Elves. Her tears, however, are not because her children have died, but because she cannot be with them. Recently published rulebook Codex: Chaos Daemons (2008) suggests that Isha was not slain with the rest of the Eldar gods, but was captured by the Chaos god of perversion Slaanesh, then captured in turn by plague-god Nurgle. Nurgle caged Isha in his workshop, and forces all his plagues on Isha, who is able to resist all of them, but is turned into a method of measure the effectiveness of the plagues. The Warhammer Fantasy counterpart rulebook, Warhammer Armies: Daemons of Chaos, released at the same times as Codex: Chaos Daemons, names the caged deity in Nurgle's workshop as Poxfulcrum, a being who has many names across many univererses. The book hints that Poxfulcrum may be Nurgle's daughter.
