[edit] Buffy Sainte-Marie

Regarding Buffy Sainte-Marie, I'm quite sure she's Cree, not Inuit. Every biography I've read about her claims she was born on a Cree reservation, and she certainly doesn't look Inuit to me. I'm not familiar with her music, so it's possible the album referenced in this article actually does contain Inuit music. [edit] throat singing?

I am mystified as to why this is referred to as throat singing. As far as I can tell, it does NOT involve overtone singing ala Tuva. Good question. All singing involves the throat, so I don't know why any of it is called throat singing. Hyacinth (talk) 04:04, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
