[edit] Your recent edits
Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 05:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Sir, you had asked me why a comparison to Tamil should be made when discussing about Kannada's divergence from Proto-Dravidian. If you read the Tamil Language article, a similar comparison has been made w.r.t inscriptions. Please see this sentence "Unlike in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh where early inscriptions were written in Sanskrit, the early inscriptions in Tamil nadu used Tamil exclusively.[22]" which is citation #22. What I am trying to say is that this kind of comparisons happens all the time and is no reason to go around lobbying for support in edit wars. Its always conuter-productive.good luck.Dineshkannambadi 15:23, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Sir, if you can bring evidence from well established scholars that there was significant influence of Tamil on Kannada during its development stages, I would be glad to include it. In fact, IMO, it would be impossible for two languages to co-exist for so long and not influence each other. But remember, there will always be counter-arguements from other scholars. Please dont bring info such as Pogai became Hogai or Paalu became haalu etc. If you study the history of Kannada you will notice that coming from the same branch as Tamil (of southern-proto dravidian), there are defnite similarities between Tamil and Kannada, which does not mean one developed from the other, just as one may expect similarities between sisters. Even the earliest script has some similarities. The uasge of pa was common in Kannada upto 12th century after which it changed to ha(Sastri 1955). Regarding your edit that Kannada has existed for 2500 years and has had a written development for 1900 years, I would be happy to include it if you can bring that info from a scholar of repute. In fact I have been looking for a reliable citation for that statement to be included and would be obliged if you find it for me. It is common knowledge (from present data) that Kannada developed as a written tradition after Sanskrit and Tamil and hence does count as third in line, the delay caused purely due to political reasons, such as the Mauryas, Guptas and Satavanahas etc who encouraged Prakrit in the upper deccan. Just bring the citations from good sources (not web sites, unless the web site supports a book citation by a reputable scholar).
I have the utmost respect for Tamil, just dont create a controversy for nothing. Let us help develop the articles constructively. thank you.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 16:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RE:Aimperumkappiyam
“ | hi raja, I read article regarding Aimperumkappiyangal and followed the respective links. I feel they are totally insufficient and very litte. They require a heavy face lift. Please request some tamil authors to update the same. regards, anand.s —Preceding unsigned comment added by IndiWorld (talk • contribs) 12:34, 20 November 2007 (UTC) | ” |
Could you give me the exact link to the article for Aimperumkappiyangal? Thanks. Wiki Raja (talk) 05:22, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
