[edit] Programming
IFC claims more obscure programming than its competitor the Sundance Channel.[citation needed]
IFC has theme months, featuring movies in a particular genre. June 2005 was "Pulp Indie" month, each October is "Indie Screams" month (independent horror films), one month in 2006 was "gay cinema" month, etc.
IFC Grindhouse shows an exploitation film that may have played in grindhouse theaters in the 1970s and 1980s. A "warning" precedes the show, playing up the exploitation, in a false appeal to please NOT watch the movie about to be shown. The warning may include cautions that the film has no redeeming value, those with heart conditions should not watch, the curtains and blinds should be drawn to prevent being sued by passersby, etc. IFC Grindhouse has shown the films Ginger Snaps (2000), Reservoir Dogs (1992), Creepshow (1982), Halloween (1978), Friday the 13th (1980), Graveyard Of Honor (1975), Female Trouble (1974), Polyester (1981), Quiet Cool (1986), Mean Streets (1973), Tapeheads (1988), Brotherhood of Death (1976), and Boogie Nights (1997).
In 2006, IFC launched two original programs: The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman and The Business. In 2008, The Whitest Kids U' Know moved to IFC from the Fuse network. IFC is producing Framed in a tie-in with Reebok.

[edit] Business operations
In 2005 IFC opened IFC Center, a movie theater for independent film in New York.
IFC partnered with retailer Target in 2005 to promote indie films, both in Target stores and on IFC. Originally titled "IFC Cinema Red", the promotion was rebranded "The Spotlight" in 2007.[1]
IFC Media Lab "provides filmmakers a destination for posting their independent films online, offers viewers the chance to watch and vote on those films, and places the top, viewer-ranked films on IFC's air in a national broadcast and beyond."
IFC's related company IFC Films has entered into several ventures in new distribution models for Video on Demand (VOD) and DVDs.
