The Independence/Democracy Group in the European Parliament was set up on 20 July 2004. It incorporates eurosceptics and eurorealists. The main goal of the Group is to oppose all forms of centralisation. Some members within the group, notably the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), advocate the complete withdrawal of their country from the EU. The group's leaders are Nigel Farage (UKIP) and Kathy Sinnott, who replaced long-time MEP Jens-Peter Bonde (June Movement) in May 2008.
