Indian photography is almost as old as photography itself. Raja Deendayal opened PHOTO KA KARKHANA the dark room in early 20th century. Britishers were ruling the country and they wanted to show their people in England, what it looks like. Their vision of India created a special image of the country. Country of the snake charmers and strolling cows on the street. It took really long to establish and change the feel of India on the international map. Raghu Rai, the master of Indian photography, devoted himself completely documenting the country, like no other single photographer has done. Raghubir Singh captured the real present India. Sudharak Olwe took the Indian phtography on the new height with his documentary work of Mumbai consevency workers. so the passion Of Indian photographers continued. Recently, in Mumbai, National gallery of Modern Art has show cased the photography of Pablo Barthomew and Dayanita singh. Show is superb and takes the Indian photography to the new hights.
