[edit] Speedy deletion of Connections Church

A tag has been placed on Connections Church, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. faithless (speak) 05:11, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] November 2007

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Kenneth E. Hagin, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people, but applies to all Wikipedia articles. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Mike Doughney (talk) 11:58, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Please do not add unsourced or original content, as you did to Kenneth E. Hagin. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Mike Doughney (talk) 12:25, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deletion

Hello Impact2d,

First, let me assure you that there was nothing personal in my actions. My user name comes from a song by the band Radiohead, and doesn't necessarily reflect my personal beliefs. Whether or not the subject of the article was appropriate for Wikipedia isn't really the point; the page as it was written was very much an advertisement for the church, which we can't have on the encyclopedia. My personal beliefs didn't factor into my decision at all. In fact, I've created an article about a church myself (Saint Paul's Episcopal Church (Norfolk, Virginia)). And keep in mind when writing, one of the fundamental policies of Wikipedia is that we retain a neutral point of view. If you recreate the article and it establishes notability while remaining neutral, then obviously it can be included. But the article which was deleted did not meet the criteria for inclusion. Also, be sure to establish notability and neutrality with the very first edit; we can only go by what we see on the screen, and so we don't know if the author is still planning on adding more to an article. You might want to create a subpage to work on your articles before adding them to the mainspace. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Cheers, faithless (speak) 17:26, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
