IBM Lotus Quickr
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Announced at the Lotusphere 2007, IBM Lotus Quickr is a Web 2.0-based team collaboration offering designed to transform the way documents and rich media are shared, enabling more effective team collaboration. Lotus Quickr comprises connectors that integrate with popular desktop applications, a rich set of content and team services such as wikis and team blogs, and scalable content repositories to help businesses securely manage information. Initial support for the NSF and JCR backends was announced with future support coming for IBM DB2 Content Manager and IBM Filenet P8. IBM Lotus Notes users on active maintenance will get the personal edition of Lotus Quickr -- a "getting started" subset of the standard Lotus Quickr software.
Lotus Quickr can be described as three things (all included):
- Content stores or repositories - where you store your personal and team content
- Content and team services - that let you store, organize, access, and share content and team projects
- Connectors - that provide the end user interface to Lotus Quickr content
The Lotus Quickr connectors are like mini-applications or plug-ins that you snap right into your desktop applications. The connectors let end users work in their familiar desktop applications and move content from IBM Lotus Notes, IBM Lotus Sametime, Windows Explorer, Microsoft Office or the IBM Productivity Editors directly into Lotus Quickr.
The Lotus Quickr content services include Web services and REST style services for accessing content, allowing developers to build their own extensions and connectors to Quickr.
