"I Won't Be Home for Christmas" is a holiday song released by the band Blink-182. The song tells of a man who is fed up with Christmas and the various events that accompany it. As a result, he grows angry and violent, leading to a night in jail which stops him from being home for Christmas. The song has appeared on various alternative Christmas albums including MTV: TRL Christmas, Kevin and Bean: Santa's Swingin' Sack, It's a Punk Rock Christmas, and Skankin' Up Xmas. The song originally appeared on the single for "Josie (Everything's Gonna Be Fine)." Every December this song appears on the band's MySpace but is removed as soon as Christmas is over.
The song was released as a one track promo in 1997, and was recorded with original drummer Scott Raynor. It was released in very little quantity.
A rumor among fans about whether or not there are two versions of this song. Some people suggest blink-182 recorded a second version with Travis Barker. The version of this song that appears on the UK version of the greatest hits album is not attributed to Scott Raynor like the earlier tracks "Carousel", "Dammit" and "Josie" are within the credits.
