I.K.S. Gorkon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I.K.S. Gorkon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the fictional Star Trek universe, I.K.S. Gorkon refers both to a Klingon spaceship (I.K.S. stands for Imperial Klingon Ship) and a series of novels written about it by Keith R.A. DeCandido.

The I.K.S. Gorkon is a Chancellor-class war cruiser, named after the Klingon chancellor Gorkon. It is a quarter of a qelI'qam (about half a kilometre) long and has a crew complement of over 2000. It is one of the first Chancellor-class ships, sent by chancellor Martok to the previously unexplored Kavrot sector, to find new planets to conquer for the glory of the Klingon Empire. As of 2007, DeCandido has announced the series is being rebranded as 'Klingon Empire' and will now cover all aspects of said astro-political entity. The first novel in the new series will be 'A Burning House' scheduled for release in early 2008.

Author Keith R.A. DeCandido, who writes the Gorkon novels, often envisions his characters being 'played' by certain actors. He writes Lokor with Keith Hamilton Cobb in mind; Lucy Lawless was his inspiration for Leader Wol. Other characters on the ship, such as Klag, Toq, Kurak, Leskit and Rodek, have appeared onscreen in various Trek shows.
