Hurler was one of two roller coasters built by International Coasters Inc. The two, both named Hurler, exist at Cedar Fair's Carowinds and Kings Dominion parks. Both coasters opened in the same year, 1994. The coasters both have the exact same design, with the exact same statistics. The coasters originally borrowed their theme from the 1992 Paramount motion picture Wayne's World, whose main characters frequently used the word "hurl." While Paramount sold both parks in 2006, the new owners have retained the name as fitting for a roller coaster but removed references to Wayne's World.

[edit] Ride Layout

Riders are hoisted up a small 83 foot lift hill and make a wide turn before reaching the initial drop. During the drop, Hurler's on-ride camera automatically takes a picture (most days Hurler's camera is turned off). After the drop a unique element exists, an extremely wide, heavily banked, flat, turn. The ride continues with many hills and drops giving an ultimate feeling of air time before bringing riders back to the station.

[edit] Other Notes

Although the Wayne's World Theme has been removed from the coaster, many signs of the theme are still there. Including many stickers and stamps of the Wayne's World logo around the Hurler station, such as the columns by the exit. Another interesting fact about this ride is that when you are waiting in line, you hear music playing. No other coaster has music in the line.
